Burevi is no more a cyclone and weakened as Deep Depression and is lying in Gulf of Mannar, it will stay there itself for a while spinning bands in Delta and North TN throughout the day. So massive rains expected in Tamil Nadu again today. With two more days of rains left from dying Burevi, we are going to see floods in some parts of the State. Been saying from the 1st day. Gulf of Mannar is perfect location for massive rains. Historically they have been and they have been proved in the past 2 days too and will continue for further 2 days. Further, winds were never a threat and rains has been from Burevi.
This rains are even better than Nivar and these regions will get massive rains today too. Gulf of Mannar circulation is proving once again why it is ideal location for Tamil Nadu for widespread rains. Cuddalore many stations 200, Thanjavur smashed, Nagai smashed. Thoothukudi has joined now. Delta belt from Defecit rains till yesterday has now all come into normal category and tomorrow might even go into positive zone. This is why NEM is so difficult to predict. One system rainfall will swing the numbers. Tamil Nadu as a whole will be moving into positive zone. Remember more rains expected in 2nd half of December.
Chennai – This will be the best spell for Chennai, we have crossed 900 mm for the season and now targeting 1000 mm for NEM, a dream monsoon for us. Today is the best day for Chennai and we will see on and off rains and the present clouds is itself giving good rains.
Tamil Nadu Today – Massive rains is expected again with the Burevi remaining in same place. Central Tamil Nadu districts, Delta will all be getting massive rains. Even West Tamil Nadu districts such as Tiruppur Dindigul, Coimbatore will be getting good rains as system is expected to move west later in the day. Overall cant single out any one district. Entire TN will be getting rains today.
Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli – Has been missing the action, they will get their share of rains too today or tomorrow. There is not much wind threat like Ockhi.
