Areas to watch today – Please refer the previous post for reference. Almost similar kind of wind pattern prevails. But today the rainfall will cover more districts than yesterday. Right from Madurai, Sivagangai, Pudukottai, Trichy, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Nagai, Tiruvarur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Perambalur, Salem, Namakkal, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Ranipet, Kancheepuram, Chennai, Chengalpet, Tiruvallur, Pondy, Karaikkal all will be in action today. Some interior parts of Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram districts might get some stray rains too.
Reason for Rains – The favorite wind pattern for North Tamil Nadu persist with winds from NW and and a synoptic circulation in Bay of Bengal.
The above wind pattern will persist for next 3-4 days and then it will be caught by the westerly trough and dragged up north. But till then we are in for a treat.
Arabian low – Arabian Sea low (erstwhile depression which pounded Hyderabad) is getting good shape but it is in tricky area, models always struggle to predict the Arabian sea system intensity, lets see if it can get into a named cyclone or not without MJO support. Models have reduced the probability of a named cyclone. I will still wait for 2 more days and rule it out as I had earlier expected it to become a named system.
